AZ GTU or GXL?

Hi, I am new to posting. I bought an 1990 rx7 and dont know if its a GXL or GTU. It has manual crank windows,no rear wiper, the aero mirrors and different wheels than than the GXL. But it doesnt have the aluminum hood. It also has an automatic trans,ugh...... But it has 97,000 miles and everthing works except it shifts a little funny...thamks for reading ...LUV the forum

A GXL would have electric windows, buttons on the console for the adjustable suspension, tilt steering wheel, rear wiper and a sunroof for starters. You could have a sunroof on a GTU as it was optional.

I think only the GTUs had the aluminum hood and they are really rare.

^ All correct except for only S4 GXL's came with adjustable suspension, a 90 S5 would not.

You can't determine the car's original trim by evaluating the hundreds of parts that could have been swapped over the last 23 years by the previous owners. I don't see why it matters what the car was, but if you want to know then just ask your local dealership research the VIN.

I don't agree. Here are are a couple of pics from my 90 GXL which I have owned since new. I have the sales brochure around somewhere.
