ME gssket and seal trouble..

Hi - my names tyler. im new to the rx7 world and deff. new to rotary engines. my friend and i got a 79 rx7 given to us. supposedly has a blown head gasket. but we thought that since it had been given to us that we'd go through and replace all seals and gaskets. i from what i hear the original owner had just done work and had let a friend take it for a ride and hammered down a little too hard. so heres my problem. ifv found several engine rebuild kits. one on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MAZDA...Q5fAccessories for $134.90 that diesnt have "apex". and another http://www.atkinsrotary.com/store/pr...roductid=16918 for over $700. so do i need to get "apex seals" or will that work fine??

Rotaries don't have head gaskets. There aren't even heads. Replacing a blown coolant seal means a full tear-down and rebuild. And really, if you're going to go that far, just replace it all. Doing soft-seals only isn't worth it in my opinion.

there is no apex seal package, a master rebuild kit is what you want with the apex seals and all the springs and other gaskets and $700 isnt bad considering other places charge about $1,000 but maybe if you look you'll find one cheaper.
