OR Going to look at an 88 TII?

The kid started tearing it apart. said it was running but was blowing white smoke. Thinks water seal is blown (I Don't know too much about TIIs, I have an 85 SE) He took turbo and TMIC off and gave up on it, now wants to sell. My question, is it resealable with new seals or most likely hard parts need replaced (housings or irons?) I asked if its a TII or a converted. He said it has GXL fenders but wheels and hood are correct. It was a red car and the GXL fenders were red alone the hood edge I could see in the pics. I offered 600 for it and hes thinking about it. My problem is it a 7 hour drive to look at the car. He wanted 1K and to me 600 still seems to much.

$600 is about fair for a non-running parts car.

If it really is burning coolant and has been sitting, then it's entirely possible the engine is trashed from rust. There's no way of knowing without tearing it down, so it's a gamble.

Thanks Aaron. It had Been sitting with turbo removed and was a GXL converted, pretty messy under hood. Passed on it.
