Exclamation Gauge Installation Help

Good day,

I want to install a mechanical water temperature (autometer) gauge in my FD3S Rx7. I would like to install it on the top center of my dashboard, however, I do not know how to pass the wires from the top to the bottom of the dashboard. I would like to pass it through the vents for the windshield. Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

Also if any suggestions from alternative mounting areas will be helpful.

Thanks.

IMHO mounting on the dash as you described is what used to be call ghetto rigging. There are better alternatives ...

Agreed, however, I do not know where to place them. I have already bought the autometer single pod holders for them. I have my boost controller and water meth controller on the top of my steering consul, and my wideband and boost control gauges on my pillar. I had the water temp and oil pressure where the car stereo would normally be but I would like to install a car stereo in the car as well. The gauges are 2 5/8" (60mm).

Thanks.

What ECU are you using? And why 60mm? Start bolting those to the top of your dash it'll leave some blind spots.

I have a Haltech E6x, the 60mm was just what I had so I used them.

You don't need 60mm. Find some decent 52mm gauges. IIRC DEFI Sport black face gauges match the stock font and back-light of the FD dash pretty well, and they're not expensive. If you must mount them on the dash, then check out that link I put in my first post. flyrx7 makes gauge pods in 52mm that use the otherwise pretty useless center speaker hole. Please don't bolt a huge 60mm gauge to the top of your dash and then run wire down the vents. That will look awful...and cheap. If you can't afford to do it right, don't do it at all. You also don't need a second oil pressure gauge.
