Gas tank cleaning,

Hello,
I just purchased a new to me gas tank, mine is in really rough shape, how would I go about cleaning out the sludge, it had gas sit in it for awhile, should I look into professional cleaning?

It's for my 87 fc3s rx7 thanks!

you can try TSP (tri-sodium Phosphate) found in the paint section at most hardware stores.
It will eat just about anything.
It's about 5 bucks at CTC
I would look into that though.

POR company (like POR-15) should make products that would clean and seal a tank too..
Yep.they do:
POR 15 Gas Tank Sealer

i've had a can of POR 15 sitting in my room for just over a year now and every once in a while i go in there and we stare each other down. sometimes i blink and i THINK it blinks when i walk away ... neither here nor there ... my point is this, i'm a bit intimidated by it. you NEED to be comfortable that you know what you're doing when you use these products, and as you now know, they aren't cheap either.
