I have an 81 rx7 GSL that was sitting in a barn for 3 years before I got it. After a few days of tinkering I got it running but now I have a fuel delivery problem. Rust and varnish in the gast tank. I've taken the tank, with no leaks mind you, to a place to be dipped and sealed. The guy told me to throw the tank away and get a new one. I am unable to locate said new tank and have almost exhausted all avenues. May question is this: Has anyone mounted a fuel cell under the car? Can it be done and if so how? I very much would like this to be my daily driver but it needs to be reliable. Any help out there?

 

Of course it can be done, but it will be hard to find a cell that fits perfectly in the stock location and maintains the stock filler.

Best bet is to find a good used tank.

 

Post a wanted add in the for sale section. They do show up once in a while. Another option would be calling around to salvage yards.
