Gas Mileage Problem
Whats up guys. I'm having a fuel consumption problem. My 1987 Turbo FC3S seems to be getting horrible gas mileage between 8-12 miles per gallon city and free way. Is there anything i should look for or change?

Start with a full tuneup.
But be aware that mileage depends greatly on how you drive. If you are hard on the throttle, mileage will decrease significantly.
Mileage is also well covered in the 2nd gen FAQ.

Check for closed loop operation, i.e. ECU is seeing the O2 sensor and using it to adjust mixture at cruise. Search for my posts on 'green lamp check.' If the ECU is not seeing the sensor (bad sensor, open or grounded wire, bad connector, bad ECU input) it defaults to a rich condition. There it runs well, but tends to foul plugs, cook catalytic converters, and gets very poor gas mileage.
