Gas laying on top of butterflys after prolonged inactivity
Hello again. Today I was reading about about the air vent solenoid in my 79 rx7 its function and the testing proceedure. I removed the air cleaner and noticed that there was about 1/4 inch of gas lying over the butterflys of the secondary throttles. I sucked the fuel out with a antifreeze tester (I think this might be the issue with my hard starts and smoke after setting overnight). I proceeded with the test for the air vent solenoid and turned the key to on and heard the solenid click. I proceeded with the test and removed thehose. With the key off I blew into the hose and gas sqirted from all jets into the carburetor primarys and secondarys, This doesn't seem right to me. I turned the key on and blew into the hose and no air entered. I would guess that my next move would be to check the fuel levels in the sight glasses in the front and rear of the carb. I feel that the symptoms I have ( flooding, fouled plugs, and white smoke upon startup) are all related to this issue. Any thoughts out there reguarding what my next steps should be? If I have to adjust the floats what have you used to measure the float levels? Thanks again for all your help. Wally

I've seen this issue before. It sounds like your solenoid is working correctly. Not sure if the SAs had a restrictor in the return line or not, but that is usually the cause of this in FBs (missing or installed backwards).
