that friend

you all know him...he's that friend who's *** you must kick at any cost. My friend happens to own a 2001 mustang cobra. Normally that wouldn't be such a big deal, but he just laid down 5 grand for a procharger and dyno'd at 475 rwhp. Now the only question is, how much hp do I need to make to beat the cobra? I have a bone stock 95 touring. Will the reliability mods be enough to do it? +intake, catback, etc.? I know that beast has to weigh a lot more than the FD...

You need 476HP!!..lol!.. and a wallet that weighs more than Melissa McCarthy!!!
In this Game the only reliability mod I have found is a deep Pocket.
Seriously though, there are some nice cars posted in the Build sections that can give you some ideas as to what you may need.
If not a Size 13 Boot will kick your Buddy's *** just fine too!

at any cost?

you do realize that you will likely exceed the $5,000 your friend spent by a fairly large margin, right? from what I've grown to learn about modding the FD, just doing a thorough exhaust upgrade warrants a change in engine management. I know quite a few people have pulled power out of the twins, but the question remains, will they be enough? so you must at least consider a single will be a part of your future. I doubt you'll need to match his HP to beat him (i'm guessing this is a drag race), but I doubt basic mods are going to stomp a 500 HP Cobra. these are serious changes to your car and serious money (at least, to me) to beat one specific car that can probably then spend another $5000 and up the ante considerably. then what?

at any cost???

put magnesium citrate in anything he likes to drink, then switch around a few of his plug wires. all told, this is probably much less than $10.

Haha yea you're right, it won't be cheap. But that's the name of the game. I'm thinking the cobra has to be a good 1000 lbs heavier, that's a lot of weight. I don't know, I'm not a mathematician but I honestly don't think I'll need more than 400hp to achieve a better power:weight ratio. I would love to keep the twins, but I'm definitely not counting out going single.
I've been keeping my eye on the build section and saw one guy with 400+ on the twins, which seems to be the highest hp achieved with them. Is 350-375 totally unreasonable?
So to simplify my question, how much hp does a FD need to produce to beat a 3500lb 475hp cobra? And no, I'm not asking how much it will cost ;p...Thanks for the replies so far guys, I really enjoyed the $10 solution haha.

i'm sure there's probably some sort of disclaimer ... results are not etched in granite, yada, yada, yada ... but try this.

Awesome link Diabolical, thanks man. Looks like I need +/- 370 HP to slay the cobra. Now I know what to build for, I'm sure there is a +150hp kit out there.

MN update

Well I took a shot at the cobra, except not with the rx7. My weapon of choice is pictured below...

We were wheel to wheel from 20-80 mph...damn that thing is fast. Unfortunately I wont be able to take another shot at him with the bike because a suicidal deer picked me off last night and totaled the bike...RIP. Its worth about 16k, so that should be enough cash to get me started on the rx7 project. With every end there is a new beginning right?
