Flooding,fuelpump, float bowl vent solenoid and trailing ignition !?
I have an 84 GS sitting in my garage since 2003 with only 28K miles on it.
I used to start once in while before, 4 years ago it started flooding, then I used to change plugs and get it started for a while.
Later it never stopped flooding. Then few weeks later no gas flow, so the fuel pump had an issue.
This car had a Cobra alarm system with kill option.
Since the car was not in use battery used to go down also.
So went to a mechanic and he tried to jump the fuel pump relay and pump seems getting power., so got a new relay from dealer and still the issue was not fixed. So got my car towed back to garage at home.
Now I rebuilt the carb, cleaning couple clogged jets.
I did a check on float bowl vent solenoid and it does not seems to work ( no clicking when powered direct from battery)
Where can I find this part, dealer again? Next thing is I will have to check that trailing ignition.
Is there any thing else that I can check or shall I change the fuel pump as well.
(It works when jumped).
Please, please help trouble shoot this situation.
Also any one suspect that Alarm have any thing to do with this problem !
