Fix Door Lock
Good evening. Just wondering if you guys could help me out. I don't know much about car world but this is a big step for me to fix my car myself. I'm having problem locking my FD door. So it's like even if i turn the key counter-clockwise to lock it, you'll see the inside that it's locking(just don't know if it's locking all the way).....so let's say I turned the key and locked it, but when you lift the handle door to open it, it unlocks. so it's unlocks even without using the key. all you have to do is lift the handle. anybody know how to fix it? it would be greatly appreciated. thank you guys in advance.
p.s. even if i tried locking it from the inside and slam the door shut....it still opens. but whenever you open it from the lock position, you'll see the inside unlocking by just lifting the handle up.

You'll have to pull the door panel off and carefully work the mechanism to figure out what's going on and why. But here's a guess....
Both the lock cylinder on the outside of the door, and the interior lock lever are connected to one or more metal rods that either push or pull on the actual lock mechanism. Those rods have various specific factory bends in them to make them fit properly within the tight spaces. Over time those rods either get bent in the wrong place so that when they do the pushing they don't push far enough...or one of those factory bends get stretched so then don't pull far enough. When that happens you tend to get symptoms like you're describing because the lock mechanism isn't fully engaging. If that ends up being the case carefully add some bend or straighten as needed and then lubricate everything up and make sure it operates freely.
