First gen Wider Tires/Lowering

It looks like the maximum back spacing is already achieved with the stock wheels. Lock to lock they are pretty close to the chassis. If I find some 15x7 wheels for the 4x110 hubs, will they fit with the same back spacing and approximately same tire dia?

Thanks.

I'm using 8" wide rims on my 1st Gen with 235/40/17 tires.

I wouldn't go much wider though.

Well here is what I've come up with.... Assuming the information I got on the forum here is correct:

Stock wheel (non-se) is 13/5.5R13 with a 25-27MM +Offset

That means
2.75 + 1(27mm) = 3.75" of the wheel is inward of the hub flange.

So a 7" wide wheel with a 42MM + offset has 3.5+1.65=5.15" inward of the flange.

5.15-3.75=1.4" Spacer

So If I run a 1" spacer, with a 16x7 Wheel, 42MM +offset.... I should be pretty good to go?

I've seen some inconclusive claims that some aftermarket 4x110, 15x7 wheels came with a 20mm offset. That'd seem to put the wheel an inch farther inward.

Anyone confer?

I'm thinking of ordering the wheels and then build a temporary fitment spacer and shim it until I have the right size for the adapter.

Thanks

Specifically, Konig Rewinds are 15x7 with a +20mm offset.
