What do I need to do for engine mounts to get a 93 13btt to stay in a first gen 12a. Engine coming in next week. time to start thinking about how to put it in I guess.

Scroll to bottom.

You will also need a GSL-SE 13B Front Cover and maybe the engine mounts.

Thnks, how did we ever make it with out e-net. Friend might have the cover and the mount is only $96. Is doing this a good or bad Idea?. Can the rest of the drive train take it.

I doubt the trans will be able to take it, but you can use a 13BT (Not TT) trans to hold the power and get a custom driveshaft.

you also need a gsl se gas tank/lines and a gsl se oil pan, then do some searching about trans mounting instructions. make sure to get servacible u joints front and rear for your custom drive shaft

The oil pan will not fit....You can buy one new at racing beat; they also have the mounts.http://racingbeat.com/FRmazda1.htm

I'm pretty sure that the (TT) transmission is too long. The 12a tranny wouldn't be able to handle the power. Your best bet would be to get a TII(2nd generation) tranny, and get a custom drive shaft.

Futuristicly, You will also need too swap out the rear axel, Unless you have pleanty of them lying around, and dont mind swaping them out. Most people use the ford 8.8 rear end. http://www.grannysspeedshop.com/

You could even go to the junkyard and maybe get lucky and pull one off a truck.

I am currently in the process of putting a 13TII into my FB.
It's turning out to be an interesting/head-aching. fun little project.
Good luck!!

Thanks. Finally got head out and started looking around other threads. Alot of people have put in alot of info on this. Just wanted something more modern under the hood. No way I'm going V8. Got to be rotary or why even get an RX7. Think project should go OK. Not doing it for racing.

Oh yeah car isn't a GSL. I rebuilt for an 83 and an 84. Main body rusted out on 83 and front end wrecked on 84. Little cutting and a little welding and it ran. Did the paint and stuff my self. Tried turboing the 12A. Ran to lean. Thought about working on ports in carb. then figured to heck with it just upgrade. If I going to put the time in might as well get something different out of it.

not sure if the twin turbos will clear the steering or firewall either. most people go with a single turbo

I would go with an S4 or S5 turbo motor it is a lot easer than REW motor becouse the of all the little things that rew uses and also the S4 S5 motor swaps have bin done a lot more and there is a lot more info on that plus it will be a lot cheaper.
