Finally, a FD?
Well, I think I may have finally found a FD to pick up. I've been monitoring these boards for a while now, learning and reading, waiting for the day I finally appropriated my own FD. I think that day has come.
I just want to verify that this is the amazing deal I think it is.
1994 touring, 5spd manual, ~95k miles. Its a rebuilt title, with a mechanic verifying that the frame is straight. The vacuum lines are out, as well as the solenoid rack, and he's already purchased new silicone vacuum lines, and replaced the bad turbo solenoid.
It comes with a new ACT streetlight clutch/flywheel, the aforementioned vacuum lines, a carbon hood, the stock hood, tein super street coilovers/perches, jdm front sway bar, all for five grand. I'm not worried about the title personally, and with the vacuum lines already out, it's ready for some reliability mods.
Looking for opinions before I go through with it.

So, the car is in pieces and its up to you to get it all back together?
What are the results of the compression test?
How many miles on the motor?
How much vacuum does it read at idle?
What is the condition of the turbos, paint, interior?
Spend some time in the 3rd gen FAQ thread (1st thread stickied in this forum) and read the 3 Buyer's Guides in there.

It might be a good deal, but it might also need another 5k to fix it. A compression test and check of the coolant seals would be a really good idea.
Do you have the experience to put it back together correctly? (The information is on this forum, but not everyone is willing to figure it all out)

Yea I'd be careful, you don't know what you're buying. Got to ask yourself this, if the car is mechanically ok why wouldn't the owner put it back together and sell it for way more money??? Or if I were you I'd just low ball the **** out of him and take your chances

Do you have any history as to why it was salvaged? I agree with all the info above except for the buy an FC post. Thats not very helpful. For sure check the engine out. I have bought prior savaged cars before and its a gamble every time. Is it a flood damaged car, or wrecked? If the frame is straight it could be a flood car and you will have a lot of other issues if thats the case. Either way you are going to have to spend some money. It might be worth your time and money to look for something that is already done right and you have proof. Hope this is helpful.
