FD turbo inlet hose coming loose

hey guys, still kinda new to rotaries, but this is more of a general question.

basically the turbo inlet hose, i believe thats what it is, keeps coming loose when driving. it's happened 3 times now. every time i've torqued down the clamp pretty tight, but after maybe a week or so, if i do a hard pull, it'll pop loose and i'll lose all pressure, and all that compressed air just gets shot into the engine bay and i end up with a really sick looking!..... NA rx7 lol.

this is the hose i'm talking about just in case i'm using the wrong term.

(not my car, just a sample photo)

i'm gonna pick up a different clamp from pep boys or whatever place and seeing if that one works better.

but basically my question is this, does anyone know why this happens, does it happen often with FDs? is there an easy solution? i'm thinking about welding a thin flange/lip onto the edge of the pipe since is doenst have one. that will probably hold it down better.

any thoughts?

We usually refer to that as the crossover tube. It routes the air from the turbos to the IC so an inlet really isn't the proper term.

If it is coming loose the problem is usually due to the coupler between the Y pipe and that crossover tube. Buy a good silicone coupler and a good set of T-bolt clamps and you should be good to go. Baker Precision down in So-Cal is a good place to source those parts.

Alternatively, you can upgrade that part to the later Efini Y pipe that does away with the silicon coupler and is made of metal instead of plastic. Its the last item on this list:

It takes a bit of effort to install

You are correct. No difference in the install.
