FD needs some work
The FD that I'm looking at has a motor that is completely broken down but comes with the full rebuild kit and dvd to assist in doing so. I am mechanically inclined. Do you think it is possible for someonet hat is very new to rotaries to be able to reassemble the engine themselves? Thanks for any (non-flaming) responses.
PS- Which would be the smartest port job for a rotary novice to get? Im thinking streetport from my research. Sounds like a lot easier to keep tuned from my reading. Thoughts?

If you are mechanically inclined and can follow instructions, then you should be fine with rebuilding the engine.
Unlike those piston things, most rotary rebuilds don't require any machining or special tools. What you will need is a 2 1/8" (54MM) socket for the flywheel and a big breaker bar/good impact wrench. That's about the only weird tool required.
As for porting, what are your power goals? If you are looking for stock power or less then 400HP, porting isn't really required. And if you port the engine, your next upgrade will be a standalone EMS system.

You better be getting a serious deal on that FD. There are a lot of nice ones for sale right now at reasonable prices.
Depending on condition of the car, you might need a lot more than just the motor rebuild - fuel hoses, coolant hoses and clamps, fuel pulsation dampener, turbos, motor mounts, wiring harness, solenoids. The car is 15 years old and those parts won't have lasted 15 years.
