It'll make a big difference...let's see what the 3rdgen guru's have got to say. These are deeper waters than I can navigate.

thats what i was afraid of. i have the origilan motor that came out with all of the drive accesories but it is all tore down and in a box. i am very mechanicly inclined but this will b my first go round with a rotor. i tried to find a service manual i could buy such as a hayns but had no luck with that. if anybody lives in the south georgia area i would love to just see another car so i could snap a lot of pics of where everything is supose to b.

13b are not that hard to rebuild. It's just the parts that makes it expensive since it's not a lot of demand for it. I would suggest get that DVD on rebuilding the engine from Mazdatrix and it's pretty straight forward. It will guide you on how to DIY that was missing from the service manual.

based on fact "i am very mechanicly inclined", as long as you have all the parts, it should be no problem. rotary engines are not that different from piston engines in terms of engine install procedure..

The Factory Service Manual (FSM) is available from a thread stickied in the 3rd gen forum. There is a link to download it in the FAQ thread stickied in the 3rd gen section as well.

I personally don't know what install issues you may have with the JDM motor but I have seen threads on that topic before in the 3rd gen section. You should be able to use the Search / Advanced Search and search for "JDM motor" if you want to research it further. Maybe someone who has direct experience can comment further. It might also be in that FAQ thread so you may want to start there.
