fd dash question

Hey guys,
I recently bought a 95 rx7 and I have been lurking on here for years now but have never had a rx7 for that long last time i had a 93 and i only had for about 6 months and at that time i couldnt keep it. Long story short now I have one again that I can actually put some time and money in.
Ny question is about the dash. The dash is almost perfect except in the defroster vent area. The vents were all broken, no big deal I bought a set of new ones but they won't fit correctly because the dash around that area is coming up I'm guessing from the heat and being outside. Is there anyway to fix this? maybe with epoxy on the underside? Or do I have to find another one without this problem? Which would be difficult or do I have to live with the dash being deformed? Any suggestion would help
Thanks

I have seen the issue on other cars and usually you have to remove the dash to reform the underside. Be careful with what adhesive you use. Some adhesives will melt the dash, then you are stuck with a sticky gooey mess.

This thread kinda covers it

You may want to buy a set of these vents. They bolt in, instead of clip.

Yeah I looked at that link but I saw that the edges were sticking out on the one like the actual vent. my vent will basically clip in but by center is where the dash is coming up and the vent itself won't hold it down. Also question for the metal ones. Wont they collect more heat and cause more damage to the dash?
Thanks for the reply!

Collect anymore heat? Not really. Not anymore than sitting in the Dallas sun, like where you live. The heat out of the vents is about 130F. The metal vents and plastic vents will reach that temp, but the metal will just take longer to cool down.

carlos, those vents being cracked are such a common issue. I've had 4 FDs and each one when bought had cracked or missing vents. As for the deformation, you'd have to pull the dash out to see whether it's an issue from temperature or perhaps previous it was removed and forced back in place.

removal isn't hard and it's a great opportunity to tidy up wiring behind the dash, install gauges and make sure there's no loose or frayed wires that will cause future issues. If it turns out that it's damaged I would just by a sencond hand dash, dirt cheap on eBay.
