FC TPS replacement
FC TPS replacement
I have an old FC, and the TPS is going a touch crazy (car conking out and all the rest). I have tried adjusting the thing, but that is not going so well. What does it take to replace the TPS on the car. There was an old thread about this, but since, the link is dead, so I am having to ask again. If anyone can help, Thank you

We all have old FC's so don't feel too bad
What year FC do you have and is it turbo or non-turbo? Please explain "conking out and all the rest" and we can help determine if the TPS is your issue. The TPS doesn't do a whole lot outside of idle control and light throttle cruising. There is also a test in the FSM about how to test the sensor.
The FSM is also available online here. http://foxed.ca/index.php?page=rx7manual
As for your question, replacing the TPS is a 5 minute job. Unplug the wire harness, remove 2 or 3 bolts, swap TPS, bolt back in place, plug in wire harness, adjust to correct voltage.

It will knock out after around 30 minutes to an hour of basic traffic driving, or after going on the highway for a good while, and then coming off it. it is a '90 non-turbo, if that helps
