FC RX-7 Clicking Noise in Dash.

Hey all,

I recently purchased my Rx-7 and am learning more about it every day. Right now there is a faint clicking sound in the dash while the car is off and it is draining my battery. I've made sure all the dash controls are turned of and everything but I still cant figure it out. HALP!

welcome to the board.

"clicking" sounds like it could be a relay, but the next question would be if it something OEM or aftermarket that it is controlling.

try looking around the engine bay and see if you can find any evidence of an aftermarket security system. that would be my first guess. if so, great. if not, we can try other ideas, but either way, you'll probably just have to follow the sound until you find the offending device.

Sometimes the speedo cable can cause a noise.

My FD did that as well. Very faint tick. Ended up being CPU2 which i believe is similar tho not identical to an FC. I pulled my CPU2 and replaced all the caps with fresh ones. Fairly simple and cheap if you can solder. There are other threads that talk more about it. If it is CPU2 its fairly easy to diagnose. Just unplug it and if the tick stops then bingo.
