GA FC running premix oil

So I'm curious as to what the pro's and con's of running a premix? I'm looking at an FC thats has had the OMP removed and I'd like to know what I'd be getting into. I'm now newbie to cars and I'm not scared of doing a little upkeep but I dont want to get a car that I'm having to fix every other weekend.

Pros: No electric pump to fail (S5 only). Your engine oil level will stay more constant

Cons: Will smoke if too much is used. Measuring and mixing at every fill up can be a pain in the ***.

Premix also reduces wear compared to injecting engine oil.

The best pro is knowing that your engine is getting oil.

I premix. Its not a pita for me. Its a good excuse for me to give my 7 a 'once-over' check. No smokey exhaust either...

i imagine its not to much trouble to keep a little bottle and add at every fill up,only time i would worry if someone else is using the car and would they do the same?

I have a question about this with my 91. My understanding from reading through the forums is, that running with a bad OMP can burn out a particular circuit in the ECU!? If this is true how do you overcome that issue? I am currently posting right now having acceleration problem and an OMP WITH EMPTY LINES!

What do you mean by "starve the turbo"? The turbo is not affected by the oil metering system. Premix works the same with or without boost.

Premix does not mean that you no longer run crankcase oil. The turbo is lubricated by the engine oiling system from the oil sump.

i also run premix due to the replacement cost of new pump. mine failed and leaked, so instead of buying a used one to leak again i just blocked it off, cleaner engine bay.

It isn't as bad as you think. A friend of mine does it on his. The only annoying part to me is always having to have it in the car. I don't like "stuff" in the car, ha.

Pros: like someone said, you know your engine is getting oil. You don't have to worry about the pump going out. You don't have to worry about those pesky oil lines that end up leaking (I replaced mine with heavy duty line as a precautionary method). It also simplifies the engine.

Cons: You have to be very careful on adding the proper amount. Might cause injector problems if you add too much. If you add too much and have catalytic converters that would probably not be good.
