Fc Fuel pump in an Fd? WHY?

Decided to throw in a new fuel pump I've had for a while that I made sure was FD specific for my 1994. I pull the pump it doesn't match up, I search the Denso model number and 86 -88 rx7 pops up instead? Is the FC pump better than the FD oem pump? Or is this normal
