are you getting any hints that it's "trying" to fire at all?

if you have confirmed fuel, spark and all coil and plug wires are correctly placed, then move along to checking the timing.

It sounds like it wants to fire. So far I'm thinking its a timing issue but I have everything set up like my first gen because it has the same set um but still no luck

Thanks. I'll try it out. Is there also a chance that the engine is flooding?

well, I would kind of doubt a flooding condition now. obviously I cannot confirm this, but i'll put it out there for a future time just in case. your jetting may be off. when I had my Dell'Orto, the jetting made a night and day difference in how the car started, idled and performed.

put the light on it and confirm your timing. if it's off, get it sorted. then try seeing if you can get it to fire on some starting fluid or carb cleaner. if it does fire, then start the re-jetting process.

are you moving the distributor between cranking? may be retarded a bit???

also, are you pumping the accelerator before (or during) cranking?
