FB Oil Cooler Replacement

Hey, my 1982 fb's cooler recently got dented in a small accident and I need to replace it. I was hoping someone could help me, as I'm kind of new to this and I wasn't able to find any guides. I have a replacement cooler, but I'll need to replace one of the lines as it busted. Do I need to replace the other or can I keep it? Is there anything else I'd need to pick up other than the new line (it comes with all the fittings attached). Also, if anyone has a link to a tutorial on this topic itd really help.

As long as the replacement oil cooler is a factory unit you should be fine. As for replacing the oil lines, if you can get new ones for both I'd do that.

Now the hard part. New factory oil line as not available. A good hydraulic shop can male new lines using the old line fittings.

If you're replacement is a new aftermarket unit, they don't have an internal thermostat which is required. You can get external oil thermostats to use with aftermarket oil coolers. Earl's makes a nice one. The issue is that that they use -10AN fittings. -10AN fittings are nice because they seal better.

There are several threads discussing this. Search the first gen section.
