FB 5 lug rear conversion

Apologies if this has been asked somewhere already I looked around and couldn't find anything. I was wondering how to change out my FBs rear end to a 5 lug pattern. I'm doing a 5 lug conversion on the front using FC hubs and such. There any similar conversions for the rear or would i have to get a whole new rear end?

welcome to the board.

the ones that i have seen with my own eyes were done by using completely different rear ends (Toyota, Ford, etc.). that said, they were also pretty much race cars. i think i've seen methods where they've kept the Rx-7 rear, but i don't remember/know details.

here are some threads that may be useful:

I have't done an FC 5-lug conversion but I have converted from 12A-spec 4x110 bolt pattern to later 4x114.3 pattern. And I did the rear with custom axles in a modded ford 8.8 axle.

Sadly that info doesn't help you much. Lots of guys here have put FC front suspension on our 1st gen cars so Im sure somebody will be here to help you soon. My first thought is to get bolt-on adapters/spacers to convert your 4 bolt to 5 bolt without changing anything about the stock axle. Lots of threads about that, and a few members who can help you get custom adapters made.

I can't remember anyone specific (my memory is crap) but there are threads about this every other week. My only concern would be that you need to be conscious of how much the wheels will poke out. Adding spacers will obviously poke the rear wheels out a little more (1/2" at least) so make sure your tires arent rubbing your fender lips.

Check in the racing and wheel/tire sections for threads about such things.

Welcome to the club!

I have no personal experience doing this on an FB, but I think you can have the hubs and brake rotors re-drilled to 5x114.3 with new studs pressed in. I've done this on other hubs before so I know it is possible.
