I'm buying my first RX-7 and it's a 1988 FC GTU, but it's missing the exhaust header and the exhaust. I don't expect to find these parts at the local junkyard, so if I plan on buying new what should I go with, preferably on the cheaper end, at least for now so that it'll pass emissions.

 

u'd be surprised what u find in junkyards. the cheaper end, and to insure u pass emissions, would be to get the stock system from a junkyard. IMO racingbeat is the way to go but it's by no means cheap.

 

The car will not have a Header when stock.
It is a 23 pound cast iron manifold!..and some crappy (3 all together) catalytics!
You should be able to get the exhaust manifold off a junker.Buy a decent cat from a parts store.(huge one,like for a v8..with a split air pipe.)
