Engine swap

I have an 1986 left hand drive RX7 and i am thinking about buying a 1990 RX7 Turbo II right hand drive. Would the 1990 Turbo Engine fit in my 86 RX7?

Yes, it's the same chassis. But mixing S5 and S4 wiring is a complicated process. You're much better off using an S4 TII engine or just driving the TII and forgetting about the '86.

Yeah what's wrong with the turbo? It has all the parts you'll want anyway. IF you do go for the swap, that'd be a good time to go big on a build and a standalone, as I wouldnt want to mess with stock wiring. If your goals are less ambitious do what RR88 said.

Well the thing is, my 1986 RX7 had 189 thousand on it and it has to much millage to put a turbo on it. are there any places to buy rebuild kits for engines or turbo kits for engines? or am I better off buying a new turbo engine from Mazda that costs 3600.00?

Im not really sure what all my options are..

This is my car. It looks like its fast and a turbo, but it only has a stock engine in it because when i got it, it had low Km and I didnt want it to go to waste so I figured why not make it look like one then do something about the engine.

The '86 looks like it's in nice shape, so your best options would be either buying an S4 TII engine in need of a rebuild (then rebuilding it) or buying a good used Jspec engine. Your location is Canada, which means you may have some of the bigger import places somewhat close to you. If you can go inspect an engine & compression test it in person, you'll have a very good chance of getting a quality engine. You need to be careful though, since a lot of these places will have blown rotaries they'll try to sell.

It will fit but make sure all electrical components are installed correctly.
