Is the engine offset the center?
Is the engine offset the center?
I installed DIY polyurethane engine mount a few months ago. At the same time I changed the transmission, so the PPF and the drive shaft was out of the car. Now my diff has started making alot of noise.
Upon closer inspection it apears that the drive shaft is not balanced.
Before removing the stock mounts I did not measure the position of the engine onle the hight of the mounts to replicate. Looking now I see that the engine is offset about 1/2 inch to the left of center. The diff on the other hand is offset about 3/4 to the right.
Doe anyone know the correect position of the engine in relation to the center of the car? Tried to search but found nothing. Mazda dealers in Norway is absolutely no help.
Also..how important is it to get the drive shaft bolted back in the same position on the diff when reinstalling?

Still hoping for some assistance...
Too much other things to do, so fixing the RX7 has not been on top of the list.
Anyway, I pulled the drive shaft and diff out. Did not find any aparent visual faults but will replace front and rear bearing on the pinion. With about 60 000 miles on it should I replace the side pearings for the axels too? Do they normally need replacing?
The question still stands: does anyone know if the engine is supposed to be offset and not centered?
Thanks.
