engine misfires only when cold, lumpy idle. coolant system has no leaks help please!
Hi guys, i am finishing up my 88 fc and just got it painted. When i got it back i noticed it had a really bad misfire and went away as i revved it to 1500rpm and hen it warmed up it was completely gone. at idle 800rpm it idles kind of rough and not smooth. It only "misfires" when th engine hasnt been started for a weeks time.
Does this sound like apex seals? there is blue smoke in the exhaust.
new plugs, wires, coolant temp sensor, fuel filter, coolant, hoses, oil blah blah.
thanks, Dennis

so the "misfires" don't occur when you drive the car on consecutive days?
1. go ahead and check for spark at all the coils first, then make sure it's getting to the plugs.
2. check the compression.
