Engine locked
Engine locked
87 Base, my engine is an Atkins rebuild streetported with about 65K miles on it. I cannot get the egine to turn. Tried turning the main pulley bolt clockwise, nothing. Tried push starting, tires just skidded. Any other ideas before I get a new rebuild?
My rotary guru carlos reyez here in ocala fl says he put atkins on the map I told him I wanted an atkins rebuild.. He strongly told me not to... he said they use cheap apex seals.. But with your problem I have no idea...
maybe dumb to ask, but have you tried turning it in the other direction?
best case scenario: is possibly a piece of carbon. in which case, like i said, try turning both ways. put something in the engine (WD40, MMO, Seafoam, etc.) and let it sit and soak. hopefully you can get it to break up and get expelled.
worst case scenario: busted apex seal, hosed rotor gear, hosed stationary gear, etc. either way, you're looking at a new engine.
bottomline: take the engine out and pull it apart.
