Exclamation Engine light comes on while driving

okay so i have a 1990 s5 engine with idk how many k on it. i bought the car and it had no clutch so i got a clutch put it in and she drives walla i need an ebrake cable tho...but thats beside the point. so im driving her hard to open her to se what she can do N/A engine with no mods beside the stage 1 clutch btw. so im driving and the check engine light comes on in an amber color so i shrugged it off. when i slowed down at the stop sighn i tried to peel off because well its an rx7 and thats what they do. but i couldnt and i had no power at all with my foot to the floor so this keeps happening everytime i accelerate hard so i take off easy and no problems i put it 20 the floor again and same problem this happens in all gears btw. so i drive put her in neutral and just cruize with the car off a second i start her up while im still cruizing and the check engine light is off and i have all the power back...wtf is this? does anybody know? id post a video but it happens at random times....she also has a problem starting 50% of the time its a struggle. someone please help me this is my baby !!!

Pull trouble codes as described in the FAQ. What you do next depends on if you have a metering oil pump code or not...
