Question Engine differences

Ok guys, Im having a bit of a problem.

For the last few weeks, every time i go to start my car it POURS smoke for about 5 to 10 minutes depending on how cold it is and how long it sat since being driven last. Then after a few minutes it clears up, but if i rev up to anything over 5K and let off it smokes again. So im assuming the oil control rings are shot.
I found a motor supposedly in good running condition out of an 86 se model with around 100K on it. My question is, with my car being a late 88 model would there be any differences i need to worry about when putting the 86 engine in my car? Its still an s4 car but I heard there are small differences such as injector impedance and things of that nature.

just use the harness and injectors that the car came with on your new engine and it will be fine.

If you use the 88 harness and 88 engine then you have to use what the engine came with Plus remove the resistor pack on the car(which 86-87.5's came with as they used LO impdance injectors and a resistor pack. The 88 uses HI impedance and NO resistor pack)
