Hey guys, I'm having a hard decision on what to do to convert my series 1 to lsd and disc brakes. I spoke to my local rotary specialist garage and he said to either do a series 3 complete rear end which would be easy but not sure if it'd handle the 400+hp I wouldn't mind putting through it. Or he said put a hilux axle in there. I can't find any proper instruction on how to do the hilux axle conversion. Any help would be appreciated

 

I have used the ser 3 diff *** with 400+ hp turbo motors and they hold up ok, they are stronger than you think.

 

Oh really? If I decided to put a 20b twin turbo in it how much power do you think that it would be able to handle though? Is strengthening the diff another good option? Because I was talking to my mate and he reckons the hilux swap sounds like a lot of work and the garage wants 2 grand for the swap.. Or about 700 for a s3 rear end. A customer of mine has a 20b in a ser 1 x7 and run for 6 years so far with a series 3 diff and factory LSD with no problems . It is good to strengthen the assy to stop it bending , we do it on all our race cars

 

Oh true.. So they must be pretty strong haha! What about series 2 lsd? As they have the same
Stud pattern as my 13" wheels and not sure if my wheels will fit over a series 3 brake rotors.
