Step 1: Lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of research.

Step 2: See step 1

Step 3: Convert the tank to handle an FI pump, probably going to need an external pump. Swap the RX4 Front cover and pan onto the 88NA engine. Drop it in and wire it up. There is sooooo much more, but do yourself a favor and read as much as you possibly can.

Or, you can watch this video series

Yeah, that's a fairly loaded question.

As far as the physical bolt in, you will want to use the older front cover. The engine will then be bolted into the car.

Use the flywheel from the RX-4.

Now it's the rest of it that matters.

If you just want to run the engine, use the stock EFI system and wiring. When I have done this in the past I've simplified the stock emissions (that's the EFI harness) harness to basically a standalone harness needing only power and ground. Then just use all the stock electronics.

If all you are doing is keeping the engine basically stock and don't want to track the car, an EFI pump on the stock fuel tank will be fine. If you want to drive the car aggressively, a surge tank setup will be the easiest method of fuelling without modifying the fuel tank. If the RX-4 tank is anything like the RX-5 tank, then it is well enough baffled.
