IL (Engine) 1985 GLS-SE/ 1979 GS

hi guys,

I just got another 7 and the owner that had it said that it needs a throttle chamber. What exactly is this? All i find is an adapter with a butterfly. Is this just the carburator idle controller? Heres a pic he sent me. Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks.

That looks exactly like the cold start assist valve on a 2nd gen. It was recalled because it didn't work. It was supposed to inject some coolant into the engine to help cold starts, but it was useless.

I think by "throttle chamber" he is referring to the entire upper intake manifold that contains the DEI chamber, runners, throttle body, etc. Shouldn't be too hard to find (I have like 4 in my basement).

Thanks guys. From what he was discribing it sounds like the seals ar bad so the car dosent stay on. So i think he is covering for a blown motor. Guess im going to be doing some compression testing.
