DE Emissions failed

After adding a missing catalytic converter and tune-up car still failed Delaware emissions.
Any suggestions on what to consider next?

What was your definition of a "tune up"?

Nice 7, saw it on eBay earlier tonight. Not too familiar with Delaware's emission testing process, can you tell us which part of the emission test you failed?

Here in California, we have visual, function, and emission (sniffer) test that is all under the SMOG test umbrella.

For the sniffer, it is broken down to limits on NOx, hydrocarbons, and CO at test speeds of 15 & 25 mph.

If you can post the test results, that may provide more information.

From you eBay ad, I picked out the stuff that may effect your test...
Enhancements made 2013-2014:
New 18 gallon fuel cell
Pettit SMIC intercooler kit
New Magnaflow cat-back hi-flow exhaust
Complete tune-up, oil change & filter- at 36,850 miles

Good luck man. I'm in the same boat right now. Tune and cat has helped me some but still struggling to pass.

What part of the test are you failing? Idle or 2500? Also what kind of cat do you have (OEM, Bonez, other)?

Do you have the air pump? That and the stock cat are biggies. Other things you can dfo is get it to temp before the test and drain the small plastic tank under the TB that fills up with gas. Google FD RX7 emissions. Theres a lot out there on the subject.

Good luck

I just bought my Rx7 last week. I happen to look at the carfax and found it had a history of emission failures too. I have to get mine through inspection next week since its a new registration. I actually wanted to check out the dmv website for NJ and hope i am exempt here. Its an 1985.

I know a tune up would help it but like others said .. how much of a tune up did you do?

If its an 85 it should be exempt from emission, but not safety. My brother lived in NJ for a while and was complaining about right as he was leaving the state for another job his car finally wasn't going to have to pass emissions there.
