Eccentric Shaft Pulley 19mm Bolt
Eccentric Shaft Pulley 19mm Bolt
How in the hell do you get this thing off, its not reverse threaded is it? I have broken 3 breaker bars, started off with the 11 inch broke that, broke the 15in 1/2 drive then i broke the 18in half inch drive, then i tried to make one with a pipe and welded an adapter do it and broke the adapter. Is there any trick or any easy way to get this thing off?
It has a whole lot of loctite on it from the factory. I removed it with a breaker bar + a length of pipe over the end to give me a 3 foot handle. A trick that some have used is to lay a breaker bar on the frame of the car, then spin the starter motor briefly.
Also, anyone removing that bolt should be aware of the potential bearing problems that can occur: http://www.mazdatrix.com/faq/pulley.htm.

Heat it up with a torch, then use an impact gun.
From the factory it is only 90 FT-LBS and they usually come out easily once warm. But if the engine has been serviced by someone else, it is common for this bolt to be cranked down way too tightly.
