E/L Module Rusted Out

I was investigating some harness damage on the F and EM harnesses, when I started looking at the E/L module. The connector on it was screwed up, indicating that the prior owner had at least been messing with it at some point.

Anyway, I took the module out and it had a decent amount of surface rust on the outside of the case. Shaking it, it sounds like there are a bunch of ball bearings inside. This can't be good.

Anyone have any similar experiences?
