CA downpipe and cat questions

Ok I have 87 turbo 2. Stock from what I can gather. I bought the car with some pieces missing and trying to repace them. Im trying to get a downpipe or stock downpipe to fill the void. I'm trying to figure out how aftermarket down pipe would connect to cat. Most sites say they don't and that you need the midpipe or custome fabbing. Being in cali I need to pass smog so was trying to keep the cat on. I've been searching the forum for like 3 days now. If aftermarket doesn't work where can I find a stock precat then? Any help would be great.

Do you have any auto junk yards nearby?
I've gotten a lot of parts cheap for my car that way.
If you get a used stock pre-cat, I would gut the insides so you know that it isn't clogged. The pre-cat only helps with emissions during initial warm up before the main cat has become hot enough to work.

check the Classifieds forum or the forum for your Region to see if anyone is parting a car or recently bought a full exhaust system and now has one they don't need.

for new parts you can look into aftermarket vendors like RockAuto or Rotary Performance to see if they have what you need.
