Do I need to evacuate the air conditioning system when removing the engine for a rebuild?

I just bought a project 93 Montego Blue FD (99K miles) and the motor needs rebuild and new turbos. I have started calling around to get q quote on evacuating R12, but nobody seems to have the equipment.

no, you don't need to disconnect it, bungee cord the compressor out of the way while doing the R+R.
