I would just go look but the car is not mine and 2 hours away. I have an 86 rx7 base model 4lug. I am thinking about doing a 5 lug swap. I found a 5 lug rx7 2 hours away and the guy said i could take what ever i want off it....for a price of course. My question is Do all 5 lug rx7's have 4 piston calipers up front? and what all do I need of this other car if it does have 4 piston calipers. I dont care about changing to 5 lug my main concern is getting 4 piston brakes up front. I figure ill need the calipers rotors hubs maybe the brake lines but will i need the caliper bracket? or the spindles? I just want to know what all i need off this car to do the swap. Once again if the cars were side by side in my garage i wouldn't be asking id just start swapping parts and figure out what was needed but the car is 2 hours away so i wanna know what all to pull off and only have to go out there once. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

 

All 5-lug S4 RX7s should have 4-pot front brakes (GXL, GTU, TII, Convertible). When it comes to S5s, GXL, GTUs, TII & Convertibles all had 4-pot front brakes, but the GTU did not (even though it had 5-lug wheels). Check the 2nd gen archive for info on 5-lug conversions.

 

I have a s5 with the five lug rotors could i buy 4 piston calipers and just bolt them on?
