divided vs. undivided

I know the benefit of divided manifold/turbo is quicker spool but how much faster? and if you ran undivided manifold and divided turbo would you still see a slight benefit? or would it just be best to get a new divided manifold?

Another question today i bought my first external WG slightly used iv never seen one before and the hole where the gas goes into has the plunger and around the plunger is just a little gap is that normal? or should it be fully sealed? Its an HKS EX-R

Thanks
