How do I find out what all the initials, abbreviations, & acronyms stand for on this site? This is in response to specific references to these cars. What is fc or fs for example. I have an 86 GXL it is a non turbo 5spd car. Is there a better description for this car? Sorry if I seem dense, I have come to the Rx7/rotary club a little late in life. Thanks for any help. I'm sure that I'm the dimwit who didn't search the site long enough to find these simple answers. But as I've always said there are no stupid questions, but there seem to be no shortage of idiots to ask them.

We have a special club that issues the special codes and abbreviations each month in a super-secret newsletter so that we can act smarter than everybody else and call people "noob" when they don't know the code.

Just kidding.

Many of the forums have a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) thread located near the top of the forum. These types of threads are called a "Sticky" because the forum moderators stuck the threads there where you can always find them and they do not move when other threads are updated.

For example, the 2nd Generation specific FAQ is shown here with the red arrow:

FC is part of the VIN code for a 1986-1992 RX-7, so we use that as a designator for that particular model. The codes for the other RX-7 model years are SA, FB, and FD.

If you use the following description for your car then you will pretty much have everything covered: 86 GXL MT (1986 GXL model with Manual Transmission).
You don't need to specify non-turbo (NT) or naturally aspirated (NA) because every GXL came that way from the factory, and all of the manual transmissions were 5-speed.

You can also use the following if you don't need to be as specific when describing your car:
FC (2nd Generation body style 86-92)
S4 (Series 4 = 86-88)
NA (Naturally Aspirated)

There's a similar FAQ sticky in the 3rd Gen. section. The abbreviations are at the bottom of it.
