Dead RX-7
A friend of mine just gave me a rx-7 for dirt. It is an 87 rx-7 t2 model. It also have a wofd 3d ecu. I found out that his uncle tried to fix it but not sure what he has done to it. I received the car not running, but finally got it to crank, but still doesn't start.
After a couple of days of trying to fix it, I feel that maybe it has way to many problems. So far I have changed the spark plugs. I tried to de-flood it by spraying starter fluid in the intake.
I don't know if the wolf 3d ecu have problems with it or not either. The cover for the crank angle have been removed and I'm not exactly sure if my friends uncle messed with it. Also there are a ton of wires that have been hacked up in this car.
What should my next step to getting this car running. And help would be appreciated. Thanks!

its got some decent parts on it, you might be better off parting it and using the cash to buy a running T2, that wiring is seriously fubar. I bet almost anything that the timing is all screwed up from that hack job, whats that black wire with te 4 small wires coming out of it???
Yes sir, do yourself a favor and part that sucker out. You will have nothing but heartache trying to fix esoteric problems. Getting a car running after someone has hacked it is way too time consuming. You should be out enjoying riding in it, not spending every weekend wrenching it. Not to say wrenching can't be enjoyable, but trying to diagnose every problem on a car where you don't know what has been done to it can be debilitating at the very least.
Well, assuming it has good compression, I think I would make sure the CAS is in the right position, re stab it if need be. And I would return it to a stock ECU to get it running ( the Wolf can come later), and make sure all the wiring is intact and functional. Then I would start with basic troubleshooting the no start situation.
By the way, I don't think starting fluid is going to help you with a flooded engine.

This car is full of hack jobs and I am starting to think that its best to part it out cause I really do want to be enjoying the car instead of shaking a wrench at it.
I will make sure the CAS is in the right position and re-post.
