1985 gs, how to test the dash light dimmer? I have no dash lights, but the console and radio light up with head lights on....suggestions.

When I worked in parts we sold alot of those dimmers. You would have to test it with a meter.

Under the shift boot, there are two wire ends that look like they should be plugged into each other. If you do plug them in, then you immediately burn up the dimmer switch. Happens to almost everyone at some point, if they ever pull the shift boot off.

For a temporary fix, you can pull the switch out and jump two of the connections. This will give you dash lights at full brightness (mine is still hooked up that way).
