Question Couple of noob FC questions...

I've seen pics of the back seats of an FC, and it only looks like a small child can fit back there. I'm not sure if it's possible, but is there some way to extend those back seats to create *some* leg room back there while keeping some trunk space to make an FC "passenger-friendly"?

It's one of those things I think is possible, but would take money...and I know I'm gonna take fire for asking this question.

Second question, what's the basic general maintenance I'm gonna expect in an FC? I read the FAQ, but the information is a lot to swallow. I was wondering if I could get a quick summary?

The short answer is no. The seats sit between the frame rails into a cavity that is built into the body. Extending them would require cutting out part of the trunk pan. You would run into the differential.

Basic maintenance is the same for any 20 year old sports car. You can find RX-7 specific stuff in the Haynes/FSM.

Change out all your fluids (coolant, brake, clutch, ect.), make sure you change your oil frequently, even though it may look clean. Make SURE your cooling system is working good (Mazda Thermostat), you don't want to cook a rotary engine.

N/A only: Always try to shift after 3800 RPM, I always go for at least 5. This makes sure the 5th and 6th port actuators are working and don't freeze up. This is assuming they are already working.

Check out the FAQ for more information though.

About the whole engine cooking thing,... I was told that if your rotary engine does overheat, it won't seize up but it will just cook the gaskets and you will lose pressure but will still be able to drive for about a mile or so. Just wondering if this is true...
