could this mean a bad tps?
could this mean a bad tps?
Ive adjusted my tps acouple times, always with the car fully warmed up. But the idle just wont stay the same. Tonight i went out after work, adjusted, rechecked, readjusted, about 8 times or more, always with the car at full operating temperature. My car is a 90 gtu na. I cant seem to understand how to adjust it through the tps connection, i just just cant figure out what wires to probe for resistance so ive just been probing the g/r wire and adjusting to 1v. Anyway, once i adjust, i fire it up, and it idles nicely right at 750. But as soon as i hit the fuel pedal, when the rpms come back down, it comes back to 1k, everytime. Would this indicate a bad tps and time for another one? Thanks for the help, you guys on here have been great.

A properly adjusted TPS will help smooth out a fluctuating idle but it doesn't actually set the idle speed. It's possible the throttle cable is not releasing fully or the throttle plates are sticking a bit and so on. It takes about twenty minutes of driving time for the engine to warm fully when the air temp is fairly warm just as a reminder.

Have you been setting the Initial set coupler before setting the TPS?
if not it will just revert back to the the same old stuff that it was doing.

Ok, i found the initial set coupler, the green 2 wire plug, how do i set it? Do i need to jumper that connector before setting the tps? Thanks.
