85 GSL - Pump accelerator to start

I always have to pump the accelerator 4-5X to get the engine to start. Owners Manual doesn't say anything about pumping gas. Just says to pull the choke completely out. Is there an electric fuel pump so I'm just imagining I need to pump the gas?

Cars with carburettors cars typically need a pump or two to start up as the components inside wear out such as accelerator pump and metering rods. If pulling the choke doesn't do anything, I say a rebuild is in order for the carburettor.

Eh, a few pumps in the morning is normal. I usually have to give her 2 during the warm months, and up to 5 or 6 when it gets down near freezing.

Brand new, the procedure is something like press it to the floor once, set the choke, then start the car. But cars are like women, each one will require something different to turn her on, and that thing might change from day to day.
