Cold start up

My fc revs up to around 4k on start up, and I know it's the cold start up system but is it necessary,? If not how would I get rid of it?

You can disable it by jumpering the cold start switch, which is located in the bottom driver side of the radiator. Just unplug, and jumper the two wires.

Or simply start the car in gear. The ECU disables the 3K startup in that case.

Is it bad for the car to do this? I mean, it must be there for a reason, right?

It's there to warm up the cats so the car passes U.S. emissions standards. And jumpering the two wires at the plug does not disengage the cold start functionality unless I am gravely mistaken.

The sensor will create continuity inside itself when the coolant temp is above a certain threshold which is close to 60 degrees Farenheit. When this occurs the continuity in the sensor/switch will pass the ground from one wire to the other wire, which runs to the ECU. When the ECU receives the ground it thinks the coolant temp is warm enough to initiate the cold start process. So if you don't want this then you would simply remove the plug to the temp switch and leave it be.
