Cobra IRS in 3rd gen

Does anyone know somone who has done this and how mouch needs to be fabbed. We have a new carbon fiber driveshaft and it would be nice just to change the flange. Mustang stuff is so mouch cheeper. I just joined and I'm going to try to search for a old thread. This is the first forum I've been in, got to get this search thing.

I don't know why anyone would attempt the downgrade, but it would probably take enough custom work to make the cost of the job more then just buying what 7 parts you want.

The cobra is a good choice because there is a cradle available from a couple of vendors (availability is another issue) that saves a lot of custom work on this job.

You can find some info in the v8 section of this forum. Also information at v8rx7forum.com

Well, take my review with a grain of salt. dgeesaman knowledge > my knowledge

I would just question the reasoning of why. If cost is your only motivational factor I don't see the point.

Cost for subframe is 550 cost for the IRS could be anywhere from 300 to 800 depending on the deal you find. Axels from driveshaft shop to make it work are 600. The subframe uses all original shocks, brakes, etc. So the cost is about the same or depending on a what kind of deal you get.....could be cheaper. Does seem like it would hold up better since it was designed to handle more torque for a car that weighs almost a thousand pounds more than the FD.
